Even though the Pokemon GO Easter event is now gone, this doesn’t mean that Niantic doesn’t have other surprises in store for their players. We can now enjoy a post-Easter gift, namely the generation 2 starter Pokemon. They are now hatching from 5 km eggs. The generation 1 starters have also started coming out, but from 2 km eggs. As such, it is a true challenge to collect the starters in a much easier and faster manner.

What Are the Gen 2 Pokemon?

The Gen 2 starte Pokemon are the Chikorita, Totodile and Cyndaquil. They are considered quite rare by the players, but after the Easter event this is not the case anymore. The eggs that were obtained after the event have just started hatching into the Gen 2 starter Pokemon, as International Business Times reported.

Users at Silph Road on Reddit are the ones who confirmed the discovery, so now you can find Gen 2 starters in the 5 km eggs. From what it seems, Niantic implemented this change after the Easter event. Ever since this confirmation, more and more users have been reporting that they hatched one of the Gen 2 Pokemons from the 5 km eggs they found after the event took place.

What about the Gen 1?

Pokemon developers have been tinkering with Gen 1 too. Many users said that they caught Squirtle, Charmander or Bulbasaur from a 2 km egg and not the usual 5 km one. This means that they are now much easier to collect. If you catch all the Gen 1 and Gen 2 Pokemon starters, you can have the six entries required to fill up the original, plus the Gen 2 Pokedex, and also obtain the achievements that come with them.

Meanwhile, the company did not make any official announcement about the changes, but this wouldn’t be the first time this happens.
