Even though the Detroit Auto Show is only one month away, this didn’t stop Mazda from announcing that a brand-new MX-5 limited edition will be launched in the UK. The new model is called Z-Sport and its based on the highly popular Sport Nav model which hides a monster 2.0-liter engine under its hood. We should also mention that Mazda plans to build only 200 models of the new Z-Sport and that one of them will cost £25,595.
Mazda MX-5 Z-Sport Limited Edition
Considering that Mazda’s upcoming car is priced at £25,595, this means that it costs £1,400 extra in comparison with the current Sport Nav series. Nonetheless, the bigger price tag also makes room for Mazda to add a bunch of new cosmetic upgrades such as the Cherry Red roof and black 17-inch BBS alloy wheels.
Mazda UK Director Talks About the New Model
Ever since Mazda announced that it plans on launching the limited edition of MX-5 Z-Sport, fans have been flooding Mazda’s forums with questions about its rather unique design. In order to shed some light on this matter, Jeremy Thomson who is the company’s Managing Director in the UK made the following statement: “The MX-5’s new Cherry-colored roof was shown for the first time in public at Tokyo where it received a very positive reception. I’m delighted that we can bring it to UK MX-5 buyers as part of the Z-Sport limited edition model.”
Under the Hood
As previously mentioned, the new car will be based on the already existing Sport Nav. Therefore, MX-5 Z-Sport will be powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that puts out 158 bhp. Things get even better though since the new model will also be equipped with a new suspension system and weight distribution.
