It looks like Electronic Arts won’t be shelving Dead Space 4 just yet. After reports that the publishing giant was shutting down Visceral Games last October 2017, more recent news indicates that this isn’t quite the case. The team behind this widely acclaimed game has been working on new projects and has talked about Dead Space 4 specifically.
A spokesperson for the team had said that Dead Space 4 will be out sometime this year. While talking about the company’s work on Battlefield Hardline, General Manager Steve Papoutsis hinted that another new game can be expected in 2018. “Many, many people here at Visceral have a warm spot in their heart for Dead Space, and right now we’re busy with Hardline and…other things,”… “but it’s definitely something we’d love to look at again (…), he said.
Dead Space was introduced into the gaming sphere in 2008. It has seen a number of sequels throughout the years, with the last one, Dead Space 3, released in 2013.
The sci-fi horror survival game earned a following amongst the gaming community. It has sold over 2 million copies worldwide. Critics have also praised its graphics and gameplay. The Guardian noted how much it reflected the thrill-filled scenes from the Ridley Scott classic Aliens.
The game’s hero is Isaac Clarke, an engineer aboard the mining ship USG Ishimura. When not busy doing routine maintenance on the archaic spaceship, he battles Necromorphs, reanimated alien corpses, using tools like the fan favorite Plasma Cutter.
